     • Open wheeled with 75 mm of clearance around front, back, and outside edge of wheel
     • Wheelbase of at least 1524 mm
     • Smaller track no less than 75% of larger track

Designing an FSAE chassis

Choosing a chassis envelope is the first major step to begin designing a chassis. This allows for you to give rough packaging dimensions for the suspension team, as well as rough performance characteristics of the car. The design process is split up into four major steps: 1) Chassis Envelope, 2) Initial Suspension Motion Points (determined geometrically from goals such as the wanted dive and roll characteristics), 3) Integration, and 4) Optimization.
